Should Arts be a mandatory subject in school?

Schools present a broad range of subjects designed to open the students’ minds and imagination. The main goal of these schools is preparing students to learn.

It can be argued that most students will not become musicians, so music shouldn’t be required. By the same reasoning, it can also be argued that most students won’t become Mathematicians, so why learn Math? After all, we do have calculators right in our phones. Even advanced Math is always at our fingertips. Many people do become artists and musicians, but the ones who don’t, do have the right to explore those subjects.

Now, if you say that Arts shouldn’t be a mandatory subject, because not all people like it, there are quite many people who don’t like Math too. But no one would ever suggest that Math and Science should not be an important part of the school curriculum, because, in addition to providing vocational options, learning these subjects helps us understand the world better. This part comes in our logical brain, but students should be able to use their creative brains too. And to do this, they’ll need to enter the world of arts, where they can give wings to their unique creativity and imagination. And genius Albert Einstein himself said, "Imagination is more important than Knowledge," and Arts would be the best subject to do this.
